Were you there when the harsh words were said?
Were you there when the hurt feelings showed?
Were you there to dry all the tears?
Or to answer the questions
Why did this happen?
What did I do?
Why don’t they like me?
Aren’t I okay too?
Will you be there tomorrow?
To keep it away
Or watch from the sidelines hoping they stay at bay
Will you stop it next time?
Or the next or the next?
Will you care if more hurt?
Or do you even sense
The long-term distress
And the pain this has caused
Were you there?
